Recent Work...

Well since my last 'work' post I have again been lucky to enough to work on a bunch of very different things! First up I travelled over to China where I worked with The Four Tops at the Wynn Casino in Macau before touring with Jane Zhang as part of her 'Bang The World' tour. It was a lot of fun playing with a great band in some pretty big stadiums in China.

I then came back to Australia and did a few shows helping out on "The Voice'.

This went into a short run of the musical "Witches Of Eastwick" at the Australian Institute of Music with Musical Director Greg Crease. Who incidentally was the Musical Director on my first first professional musical in Adelaide; "A Chorus LIne" when I was 19...

I then bunkered down for a two month run of "Anything Goes" at the Sydney Opera House for Opera Australia. It's rare to play a show these days with a full big band and nothing on track! The band sounded great and it was a joy to walk up to 'The House' every day for work. For a moment I was a real musician!

And finally was some work with the always active Jazzgroove Mothership Orchestra

We recorded a new album with Melbourne trumpet virtuoso Scott Tinkler over two days at Studio 301. The music was composed by Andy Fiddes, and Scott sounded phenomenal. I look forward to hearing the final result.

We are also just currently wrapping up a short tour with the JMO featuring (in my opinion) the worlds best guitarist (and old school buddy); James Muller. A selection of James' music has been arranged by the great German arranger and composer Florian Ross. The band is good, the charts are great but James is awe inspiring...

Well, it continues... The older I get the more miraculous it seems that the book fills up. Sometimes it fills me with confidence that it will continue, sometimes I am just thankful I managed to make it work this long! Time will tell :)
